Global sustainability initiatives

Grieg Seafood has committed to several initiatives that set high standards related to our farming operations or value chain. Initiatives span from ocean stewardship to climate, deforestation and human rights.

Cerrado Manifesto statement of support

The initiative is comprised of more than 150 global food companies and pledges to “commit to working with local and international stakeholders to halt deforestation and native vegetation loss in the Cerrado.” Grieg Seafood is a Steering Group Member of the initiative. The Coalition for Responsible Business

The Coalition for Responsible Business calls for a Norwegian human rights law for business, based on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The Coalition is comprised of Norwegian civil society, trade unions and businesses, and Grieg Seafood is a signatory. Read more at www.koalisjonenkan.no

Science Based Targets initiative

The Science Based Targets initiative champions science-based target setting as a powerful way of boosting companies’ competitive advantage in the transition to the low-carbon economy. It is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments. Sustainable Ocean Principles

The initiative is organized by UN Global Compact and outlines ten ambitions and recommendations for growing sustainable ocean business. Grieg Seafood is a signatory to the principles. Read more at https://www.unglobalcompact.org/take-action/ocean.

Together with Nature Initiative

The initiative unites businesses and civil society in support for the Together With Nature Principles for nature-based solutions. The four principles comprise responsibly tackling the climate crisis, restoring biodiversity, and benefit planetary health and human wellbeing. Grieg Seafood is a signatory to the principles. UN Global Compact

The UN Global Compact in the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with ten principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Grieg Seafood is a signatory through out majority owner Grieg Maturitas. Read more at https://www.unglobalcompact.org/ .
