Grieg Seafood BC staff attend sector appreciation event
There’s no doubt about it – the past year has been hard on salmon farmers. But the BC Salmon Farmers Association (BCSFA), wants all sector employees to feel appreciated.
From Managing Directors to contractors and their families, all were welcome at a community BBQ at Robert Ostler Park, located in downtown Campbell River. The event was held following the BCSFA’s AGM and was well attended by approximately 200 people. Spouses, friends and families were also invited to this family-friendly event.
Not only was it a nice way to recognize industry staff, but salmon farmers were also able to show their commitment to our community. In less than two hours, more than $1,100 was raised for the Campbell River Food Bank. Thank you to everyone who both donated prizes and cash to spin the prize wheel. Special thanks to the BCSFA Young Professionals who expertly ran the prize wheel, handed out the fantastic t-shirts (I <3 farmers) and stickers, and helped with all the setup and tear down of the event.
“Well done to everyone involved,” says Grieg Seafood BC Managing Director Jennifer Woodland. “We see you and appreciate all that you are doing.”
Woodland also notes other great community work being done by the BCSFA’s Young Professionals, such as their official adoption of Saratoga Beach as part of their community outreach and dedication to healthy oceans. “We are continually impressed by the people in this industry,” she says.
