Grieg Seafood is disappointed by Government’s announcement today
The framework is not supporting an achievable and realistic transition in our view.

The five-year period given to transition our operations to closed containment systems is not realistic, and in context of the rural, coastal and Indigenous communities that we work with, not responsible.

Grieg Seafood supports a transition of the salmon farming industry in BC into new technologies and practices, however, we are disappointed as there is no scientific basis to this decision and there is not given enough time for the industry to consult on the challenges of this policy.

We hope that through the consultation process, the government comes to realize the shortcomings of the ban and gets back to their commitment for a realistic, achievable plan.
