Grieg Seafood appoints Kjetil Ørnes as new Regional Director of its Rogaland operations
Ørnes has nearly 40 years of experience from the salmon farming industry. He has been the Seawater Production Director in Grieg Seafood Rogaland since 2006.

As Nina Willumsen Grieg, former Regional Director of the region, has taken on the role as interim CEO of Grieg Seafood ASA, Kjetil Ørnes has been appointed new Regional Director of Grieg Seafood Rogaland.

Ørnes has been in the aquaculture industry since 1987. He has worked at Grieg Seafood since the company was established. He has experience from the company's operations in both Canada and Norway.

“Kjetil has several decades of operational and management experience from Grieg Seafood Rogaland. He has been instrumental in the region’s biological and financial performance over many years. I wish Kjetil all the best and look forward to working closely with him and the Rogaland team going forward,” says Nina Willumsen Grieg, interim CEO of Grieg Seafood ASA.

Kjetil has extensive knowledge and experience from new farming technologies. He has played a key role in the development of Grieg Seafood Rogaland's post-smolt strategy, with the aim of achieving sustainable growth. With this production technology, the fish spend longer time on land and shorter time in the ocean farms, which has improved both sea lice control and fish welfare.

“I look forward to taking over the baton and developing Rogaland further together with talented colleagues,” says Kjetil Ørnes.

Rogaland is Grieg Seafood’s southern region in Norway. The region is targeting 30,000 tonnes of harvest in 2025.
