Aquaculture Technician

Grieg Seafood is a leading producer of quality farmed salmon, with a proven track record of achievement. The company is the one of Scotland’s largest producers of Scottish salmon with an annual production of 20,000 tonne. Environmental awareness and sustainability are at the heart of our business.

The Role

Based in Shetland and reporting to the Site Manager/Assistant Site Manager the role entails:

  • Prioritise, plan and carry out the day to day work for your site/s, ensuring it is done to the highest standard. This will include the following tasks (not exhaustive):
    • Containment checks
    • Liaising closely with the feeding team
    • Control feed delivery and feed sample procedures
    • Servicing and maintaining equipment
    • Net cleaning and/or changing
    • Treating/grading fish
    • Harvesting fish
    • Lice counts and gill health checks
    • Sample weighing and biomass control
    • Water quality sample collection
    • Collecting environmental data

The successful candidate will be physically fit, have a keen interest in fish husbandry and enjoy working outdoors year-round. Previous experience within a sea-based aquaculture environment and workboat related qualifications is sought after although this is not required for a trainee position as full training will be provided.
